We decide to go camping for a mini vacation for the boys. The plan was to leave on Sunday and come home Christmas Eve morning. Well, everything started off as planned. We got to Okuma (an Air Force run place) and set up the camp. On the way there, I realized I forgot to pack the towels and flashlights but then remembered our neighbors would be up here too and we could just borrow some. About half way there, I asked Joe if he packed Brody's shoes and he told me that he thought I did. I remembered taking the shoes out but never put them in the bag. So, Brody's tennis shoes sat at home on the couch. He was asked to put shoes on before we left and he choose cowboy boots that are too big. That is why I pulled out the tennis shoes but never put them in the bag. It was warm and sunny when we got there, we set up the tent, the boys went swimming and played in the sand. In the middle of the night, the wind picked up and the rain started to come. It was freezing (50's) the next morning. We ate breakfast in the car (to stay out of the wind), the boys went putt putt golfing but it was too cold to do anything else. We hung out at the neighbors, who were smart and got a cabin, but it was even too windy to start a camp fire. We managed to get one going and roasted s'mores in that fire. By the end of the day, I told Joe that it was too cold to stay another night and he agreed. We came home that evening but did rent a 4-seater bike right before we left so the kids could say we did something!!! Note to self...never go camping in December!!!
